The new entry of the Tregoo Extreme Crew is the athletic couple composed of Laura Trentani and Roberto Ragazzi. Trentani, orthopaedic doctor, and Roberto Ragazzi, professional in the field of rehabilitation medicine, are athletes who always face peaks and extreme temperatures. Partners in life and adventure, under the name of Volley Team, they have covered thousands of kilometers in challenging places, from the Svalbard to Alaska, from Norway to Lapland and passing through Ecuador and Iceland.

On February 2015, the Volley Team will make a new great endeavour: the Yukon Arctic Ultra. It is the coldest challenge in the world, due to 160 kilometres among the Arctic’s glaciers, from Whitehorse to Braeburn in the Yukon Territory of Canada. First of all, an endeavour to challenge themselves and their resistance, to be performed in independence and extreme conditions by melting the ice to quench their thirst and sleeping among ices, under the stars at -40°C.

But no endeavour is impossible with the right equipment: Tregoo has provided the two athletes with the Solar Power Station 10-50 and Lizard 50 Power Packs to power the GPS device and headlamps.

The auxiliary Power Packs are necessary both as safety backup and because the Ion Lithium batteries lifetime is drastically shorten under -10°C. As a consequence, even their functioning could be jeopardized. Furthermore, there are only 3-4 hours of daylight per day during the Arctic winter. Therefore, even though Hippy 10 portable solar panel is designed and tested to work at -40°C, this can’t be said for Ion Lithium batteries, which show that their limits can’t be overcome by present technology. It is better to leave with batteries fully charged by body heat to work them!
